Working Together

  • Initial call: I offer a complimentary, 15–30 phone or video call to hear more about your family and think together about whether I can be helpful.

  • Initial evaluation: I meet with parents for 60–90 minutes to take a full medical and psychiatric history of your child.

  • Follow-up appointments: Weekly 50-minute sessions, most often with parents, although I may ask to meet with your child individually or to meet with your family together. I will also provide ongoing evaluation and management of your child’s psychiatric medications, if applicable.

When I can help

Parenting-focused psychotherapy can be helpful in many situations, including the following:

  • Your child is significantly more difficult at home than at school

  • Your child is significantly more difficult with one parent than the other

  • Your child is physically aggressive towards parents or siblings

  • Arrival of a new sibling / sibling rivalry

  • Your child does not respond to parenting interventions that have worked for your other children

  • Your child is struggling and you would like to try something besides individual therapy or medication

  • Your child is struggling and individual therapy and/or medication have not been helpful or have or not been helpful enough

  • Your child refuses to take medication or participate in individual therapy

  • You would like to help your child manage a personal stressor (a neurodevelopmental disability, or physical or mental illness)

  • You would like to help your child manage a family stressor (illness or death of a family member, parental conflict or divorce)

  • Your dynamic with your partner is interfering with your ability to co-parent effectively

  • You have a personal history or mental health challenges that make it difficult to parent in the way you would like to
